Feb. 25th Tuesday at 11:30 am
Duke Energy Headquarters Charlotte
550 S. Tryon St Charlotte, NC
Stand together with the Sierra Club, Greenpeace, Appalachian Voices, SACE and others like you.
Take a stand for clean water and an end to dirty coal ash polluting North Carolina!
Duke Energy needs to clean up the coal ash from the Feb. 2 Dan River spill (there was a 2nd spill there this week) and at all of the ash impoundments across NC. Coal ash is hazardous waste produced by coal-fired power plants and constitutes a toxic mix of heavy metals, chemicals, and known carcinogens. We won’t stand for coal ash to be dumped in our rivers and lakes or slowly released into drinking water sources!
We’ll deliver over 8,500 petitions pressing Duke to clean up its coal ash at all 14 plants in NC. Speakers during the petition delivery represent this issue from the national to local scale.
Feb 25th meet promptly at 8am. Earthfare Westgate shopping center near TCBY area. Laura has an 8 passenger van and Steve Norris has Jim Brown’s 15 passenger van. Some cars will be there too. We would like about $10 per person to cover gas and parking and wear and tear on vehicles. We should be back in Asheville by 4:30ish.
